This trend following indicator represents
momentum in an instrument. Developed by Gerald Appel it displays two
lines, one of which is the MACD, the difference between a slow
Moving Average (MAV) and a fast MAV (green line). The other is a
smoothing signal line which is a slower exponential MAV (black
line). The pink histogram is simply the difference between the MACD
and the Signal line; this can indicate strength in the
move.
